Yesterday’s Child


To yesterday’s child I say “take heed”,
You are not alone against the world.
You are motivator,
And instigator;
A force to recon
with, and for.
You are leader
And liberator,
Standing tall against
the cold of walled refrain.
You can hold onto
Your youthful smile
And still grow up strong,
As long as you remain
True to you.
Believe in others
But believe in yourself.
Know that the world
Does not make you into
Something that you are
Not already willing to be
So be brave
And be brilliant
And know that
Tomorrow’s leader
Begins with today’s dreamer;
Grown of yesterday’s child.
